At just 22 years old, Anna "Supergirl" Jaroonsak has officially hung up her 4-ounce gloves. Following a storied journey that began before she could even form permanent memories, the Thai phenom shocked the combat sports world this March by announcing her retirement at Lumpinee Stadium. In a career that burned bright and fast, the girl known for her "spearing knees" is ready to find out who Anna is when she isn't "Supergirl."

Anna’s story is a true family affair. Born into a Muay Thai dynasty, she began training at the tender age of three under the watchful eye of her father, Kru Jaroonsak, a former professional fighter and English teacher. While other toddlers were playing with blocks, Anna and her older sister, Nat "Wondergirl" Jaroonsak, were hitting pads in their father’s camp.

By age nine, Anna made her competitive debut at a temple festival, winning by second-round knockout and earning a humble 300 baht. It was the start of a meteoric rise that saw her capture the Thailand and Nai Khanom Tom championships by age 15. In 2020, she made history as the youngest fighter ever to debut in ONE Championship at just 16, introducing the global stage to her signature "Goddess of Knees" style.

Behind the highlights and the fierce ring presence, a different battle was unfolding. Anna recently revealed that her decade-plus in the sport was fueled largely by a desire to keep her family together during her parents' marital struggles. "I did it for everyone else," she shared emotionally after her final bout. "But now I'm too tired."

Despite the pressure, her accomplishments remain staggering:

  • A Professional Record: 40 victories over nearly 50 bouts.

  • Youngest Sensation: Debuted in a major global promotion at 16.

  • The "Knee Goddess": Revolutionized the use of long-range knee strikes in the atomweight division.

  • Fashion Forward: Successfully bridged the gap between combat and culture, appearing in high-fashion campaigns for brands like Puma.

Anna is now shifting her focus to her family’s gym in Phuket, where she aims to foster a family-first environment for the next generation, while also pursuing her passion for animal rescue.

As one legend departs, the ring continues to call for new heroes. Here are the rising stars ready to dominate the next era of women’s Muay Thai.

  • Phetjeeja Lukjaoporontom: Known as "The Queen of Thailand," she is a technical masterpiece with over 200 wins. Her transition to the global stage has been flawless, combining traditional roots with terrifying knockout power.

  • Marie "Snow Leopard" Ruumet: This Estonian-born striker has become a fan favorite in Thailand for her clinical accuracy. Recently honored as a "Friend of Thailand," she represents the new wave of international talent mastering the art of eight limbs.

  • Martyna Kierczynska: The 21-year-old Polish powerhouse made waves with a dominant debut against Supergirl’s sister, Wondergirl. Her relentless pressure and "never-back-down" attitude make her a nightmare for anyone in the strawweight division.

  • Barbara Aguiar: The 2025 RWS champion has solidified her place in history as the first non-Thai woman to win a Rajadamnern Stadium title. Her grit and championship pedigree mark her as the one to watch in the bantamweight ranks.
