The Empire of ONEE: How Takonkiet Viravan and The One Enterprise Rewrote Thai Television

If you want to understand how a single creative vision can reshape an entire national media ecosystem, you have to trace the trajectory of The One Enterprise Public Company Limited (ONEE). Long before modern streaming algorithms and digital recommendation engines dictated what global audiences consumed on their screens, a young director named Takonkiet Viravan returned to Thailand in 1990 after completing his studies in communications and theater in the United States. He planted the seeds of what would eventually become an unstoppable content machine.

Launching Exact Co., Ltd. in November 1991 under the corporate umbrella of media titan GMM Grammy, Takonkiet pioneered a brand-new wave of prime-time dramas and legendary sitcoms that completely altered consumer expectations for Thai television. Shows like Pen Tor and Bangrak Soi 9  became cultural touchstones embedded in the daily lives of millions. Takonkiet understood something fundamental that traditional broadcasters often missed, television is not just about filling airtime, it is about building emotional attachment to characters who feel like next-door neighbors.

When Thailand's regulatory landscape shifted toward the digital television era in 2013, GMM Grammy restructured its powerhouse production assets to establish the corporate entity that would evolve into The One Enterprise, securing a national high-definition digital broadcast license for Channel One 31. Rather than relying on a fragile single-stream revenue model, ONEE engineered a fully integrated business ecosystem anchored by three core pillars: comprehensive content creation, aggressive multi-platform distribution, and an advanced talent-management framework often described as idol marketing. By absorbing major media assets including GMM Channel Holding and its sibling operations and making a landmark public offering on the Stock Exchange of Thailand under the ticker symbol ONEE in November 2021, the company fortified its competitive edge.

Today, operating out of state-of-the-art facilities like ACTS Studio and managing a powerhouse stable of over 300 elite artists, actors, and media personalities, The One Enterprise represents best-in-class execution in modern media scaling. They do not just produce shows, they own the intellectual property, manage the physical production spaces, distribute international copyright syndication across Southeast Asia and Greater China, and capture direct-to-consumer attention via digital applications like oneD. By fusing decades of traditional broadcast expertise with agile digital-first strategies, ONEE stands tall as a premier blueprint of how localized creative integrity can successfully scale into a diversified, publicly traded entertainment empire.
