Congratulations to the one and only NIKI! As of early 2026, the Indonesian singer-songwriter has reached a staggering milestone of 6.06 billion streams across the ASEAN region, solidifying her status as a global powerhouse and a hometown hero.

From her early days uploading acoustic covers to YouTube under the username "nzee24" to becoming the most-streamed Indonesian artist in the world, NIKI’s journey is a masterclass in authenticity and artistic evolution.

Looking beyond the record breaking numbers, NIKI’s success is about the deep connection she has forged with her "Moonchildren" (fans). Her latest era, defined by the release of her third studio album "Buzz" (2024), saw her return to her guitar-driven roots, earning critical acclaim for its introspective lyrics and raw production.

Some highlights of NIKI's Phenomenal Rise:

  • She is the first Indonesian woman to receive an RIAA Gold Certification in the U.S. for her hit "Every Summertime," featured on the Shang-Chi soundtrack.

  • Following the massive success of the Nicole World Tour, NIKI spent 2024 and 2025 headlining the Buzz World Tour, performing to sold-out arenas across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

  • Whether she's delivering the Y2K R&B vibes of "Lowkey" or the heartbreaking indie-folk of "Backburner" and "Oceans & Engines," NIKI continues to push the boundaries of her sound.

  • As one of the first Indonesian solo artists to grace the stages of Coachella and Lollapalooza, she has paved the way for Asian artists on the global stage.

To truly understand the impact that NIKI has had in the evolution of the modern Asian music scene, we must look at her meteoric rise, specifically through the lens of her 2021 masterpiece, "Every Summertime." While her earlier discography established her as a prodigious talent in the bedroom-pop and R&B spheres, this track transformed her from an indie darling into a definitive cultural icon. The song was written in less than an hour, yet its simplicity belies a sophisticated layer of nostalgia and intent. NIKI and her producer Jacob Ray purposely channeled the lush, analog warmth of 1970s soul, drawing direct inspiration from the "talking" R&B segments of legends like Barry White. This sonic choice served to ground the song in a specific era of the Asian-American experience and skyrocketed the genre to international acclaim.

NIKI’s place in history is solidified by her role as the "First Lady" of 88rising, the collective that bridged the gap between Eastern talent and Western mainstream success. Unlike the highly manufactured idol systems of East Asia, NIKI’s journey began with a guitar and a YouTube channel in Jakarta, representing a more organic, singer-songwriter path to superstardom. By becoming the first Indonesian woman to receive a Gold certification in the United States and the first to perform at Coachella, she shattered the "glass ceiling" for Southeast Asian artists. "Every Summertime" remains the gold standard of this legacy, a song that sounds like a vintage classic while feeling entirely new, ensuring that the stories of the Asian diaspora are no longer just a footnote, but the main event in global pop culture.

We are incredibly proud to see our Seabling NIKI continue to reach new heights while staying true to her Jakarta roots. Here is to 6 billion streams and many more to come!
